One way we are thanking our healthcare heroes is by supporting those who give it their all to provide care during this pandemic. Baylor Scott & White has expanded its Employees 1st Emergency Assistance Fund to provide financial relief for those who are taking care of our COVID-19 patients on the front line, as well as employees who are unable to meet basic living needs due to the impact of COVID-19 or other financial hardship.
Our frontline caregivers are treating patients who are sick, scared and in isolation away from their loved ones, while also trying to keep themselves and their families safe from the virus. Contributions to the fund provide immediate aid to employees who are facing financial hardship as a result of this pandemic, including assistance with meals, childcare expenses and hotel/ lodging costs for those who choose to stay outside of their home while serving our patients.
“Our caregivers are selfless, courageous and compassionate; they are an inspiration,” said Jim Hinton, chief executive officer of Baylor Scott & White Health, who, along with all executive leadership, is supporting caregivers through the fund. “We want to do everything we can to help reduce their uncertainties and burdens, and this is one way we can do that.”
Thanks to the generous support of donors, BSWH board members, senior leadership, employees and community organizations, more than $2 million has been raised for this effort.
