The Eddie Bernice Johnson Advancing Nurse Excellence scholarship program provides support to employees who dream of furthering their education. Nurses like Ana Wilson.

In 2006, Ana and her daughter Giovanna came to the U.S. from Brazil. Her marriage collapsed as a result of physical and mental abuse. Speaking no English, Ana cleaned houses to provide for her daughter. But her ultimate dream was to become a nurse.

Ana took classes to learn English and finally landed a spot as a Baylor technician. Thanks to donor support of Baylor Scott & White's nursing scholars program, Ana was able to attend nursing school while working part-time. Earlier this year, she graduated with honors. Now remarried, she's an operating room nurse at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. She says, "I am so grateful. This program changed my life and my daughter's life."
