Faith in Action Initiatives

100% supported through philanthropy, Faith in Action Initiatives extends Baylor Scott & White’s commitment to compassionate care beyond hospital walls and into communities in need.

A legacy of compassionate care

Baylor Scott & White was founded as a Christian ministry of healing, dedicated to promoting the well-being of individuals, families and communities. As the humanitarian aid and medical missions arm of Baylor Scott & White, Faith in Action Initiatives (FIAI) extends this mission beyond hospital walls, providing compassionate care for internal, local and global communities. Through FIAI, employees have opportunities to serve, support, and uplift underserved populations while advancing holistic health and well-being.

Serving faithfully and making an impact

Healthcare disparities exist not only in our local communities but across the world. Many underserved populations lack access to quality medical care, life-saving supplies, and essential health resources. FIAI bridges this gap by mobilizing BSW employees, resources, and faith-based partnerships to provide critical support where it is needed most.

Despite these efforts, the need continues to grow. Whether responding to natural disasters, equipping international hospitals with retired medical equipment, or providing spiritual care for our patients and employees, FIAI plays a vital role in expanding BSW’s impact. Investing in FIAI strengthens these efforts, allowing more employees to serve, more patients to receive care, and more communities to thrive.

Supporting health throughout the world

Fully funded through philanthropy, Faith in Action Initiatives has a significant impact on our Mission-driven work through key programs:

  • Supporting global healthcare efforts – FIAI equips hospitals in developing countries with “Second Life Resources,” including retired medical equipment and supplies, extending their usability to benefit those in need. The initiative also provides funds for medications during disaster relief efforts.
  • Providing disaster relief – FIAI coordinates Baylor Scott & White Health’s disaster relief efforts, mobilizing medical resources, financial aid, and physical support to communities impacted by crises. Past responses have included relief efforts in Japan, India, Pakistan and the Philippines, as well as domestic aid in New England, West Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
  • Empowering employees to serve – FIAI supports BSW employees with local volunteer opportunities and international medical missions.
  • Bridging healthcare and faith communities – The Faith Community Health (FCH) initiative strengthens partnerships between healthcare providers and local faith communities, ensuring that patients receive spiritual and emotional support alongside their medical care.

Nurturing the spiritual well-being of caregivers – FIAI administers the Sacred Vocation program, helping employees rediscover their purpose and renew their sense of calling in caring for others. Additional resources, such as daily devotionals, lectures, and Bible studies, further support the spiritual growth of BSW staff.

Your impact: Here in Texas and around the world

Faith in Action Initiatives embodies BSW’s commitment to serving faithfully and making an impact. This program relies 100% on donor support. Your gift can help extend compassionate care beyond our walls and into the world.

Together, we can make a lasting difference—one life, one community and one act of faith at a time.
