For 25 years, Celebrating Women has benefited from the leadership, friendship and support of its luncheon chairs. Recognized as the Council of Honorary Chairs for the 25th anniversary event, this group of women has created a lasting legacy of impact in the fight against breast cancer.
The lump Deborah Michnick felt in her left breast in February 2022 caught her off guard. When she learned she had triple-negative breast cancer that had metastasized to her liver, Deborah was devastated, she said, but “I wasn’t going to let it ruin my life.” Her oncologist at Baylor Scott & White Health enrolled Deborah in a clinical trial for women with this aggressive form of the disease, and after more than 25 treatments, her cancer is nearly undetectable.
When Sharon Benningfield was diagnosed with breast cancer, she knew she wanted to receive her care at BSW—70 miles from her home. Thankfully, Hope Lodge provided her a place to stay during her treatments—free of charge—so she could focus on getting well.
