Inclement weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of our 20th anniversary Grand Rounds Golf Tournament.

Although severe weather impacted the 20th anniversary Grand Rounds® Golf Tournament at Dallas Country Club, no amount of rain will dampen the impact the $270,000 raised will have on medical education initiatives at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC). Presented by Bank of Texas, this year’s support brings the total raised through Grand Rounds to more than $3.6 million over the last 20 years.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and donors who understand the importance of supporting medical education,” said Ben Renberg, president of Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation. “At Baylor Scott & White, we don’t just train doctors, we’re shaping the country’s future thought leaders and we couldn’t do it without the unwavering commitment of our friends who have supported this effort for the last 20 years.”
Texas faces a shortage of up to 10,000 physicians by 2032 in both primary care as well as in specialty care like cardiology, radiation, oncology and critical care. A major teaching hospital in the Southwest since 1903, BUMC trains close to 280 residents and fellows in 45 specialties each year. That training has a direct impact on the pipeline of physicians who are primed to care for future generations in Dallas: 35% of residents and fellows trained at BUMC have joined the medical staff of a Baylor Scott & White medical center upon completion of their training. And an additional 15% have stayed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, making a positive impact on the health and well-being of North Texans for years to come.
Philanthropic support of medical education initiatives helps offset the rising cost of educating tomorrow’s physicians. Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation has pledged more than $5.5 million to fund medical education programs in FY23.
