Twice Blessed House
Donor support helps Twice Blessed House offer affordable housing for transplant patients and caregivers throughout the transplant journey, easing the financial and emotional burden of extended medical care away from home.
A critical need: Affordable lodging for transplant patients
Each year, Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) performs more than 400 life-saving transplants, drawing patients from across Texas and beyond. Many of these patients must travel more than 50 miles to receive care, and their treatment journey can last weeks, months or even years as they prepare for and recover from a transplant. The financial and logistical burden of finding safe, affordable housing during this time adds significant stress to an already challenging experience.
The challenge: Limited access to long-term lodging
For many transplant patients and their families, the cost of hotels or short-term rentals is unsustainable, and staying in unfamiliar, temporary spaces can feel isolating. Without a stable place to stay, some patients may face barriers to receiving timely, consistent care, putting their health and recovery at risk.
A home away from home: How Twice Blessed House helps
Twice Blessed House provides a solution, offering affordable, long-term lodging specifically for transplant patients and their families. More than just a place to stay, it offers a supportive, healing environment where patients can rest, recover, and connect with others on a similar journey. By easing the burden of housing insecurity, Twice Blessed House allows patients to focus on what matters most—their health.
