Ryan Gebhart leading the new Frisco hospital

Ryan Gebhart, president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Centennial, leads efforts for Baylor Scott & White’s new hospital in Frisco. A devoted member of the North Texas community, Gebhart feels called to help others through healthcare. Get to know this committed servant leader who says he is blessed by wife, Natalie—they were high school sweethearts—their three children, Ellington, Tatum and Beckham, and the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

What drew you to healthcare?

I grew up in a household where my dad worked in healthcare administration. He’s still in it today! I grew up volunteering in the hospital, having lunch with dad and appreciating the impact he was able to make through healthcare. I wanted to help people and I love business; healthcare was a nice fit for both of those interests.

How would you describe your leadership style?

I believe that I’m here to serve others, so mine is a servant-minded leadership style. I truly believe it’s a gift to be able to lead. We have a responsibility to care for people, love them, guide them and to listen.

Do you have a personal motto?

For my birthday, my wife, Natalie, made me a wooden sign that reads Prayer, Presence, Purpose. I believe in starting and ending the day in prayer; always seeking the Lord. Presence is important too—whether it’s being a leader in the community, speaking with a team member at work or walking in the door as husband and father to my family. I see that sign hanging over our door every day, and it reminds me that in all things, be purposeful. It’s such a blessing to be living, to have breath and positively impact others. My purpose is to glorify God in all that I do, and by prioritizing prayer, being present and purposeful, I hope to achieve that.

What would you like to tell the world about healthcare?

People in healthcare truly feel called to serve. We’re here for a reason and a purpose: to serve others. As a Christian ministry of healing, our people believe
in that mission. We also want to continue to improve for our customers and for
those trusting us with their care. We realize that everyone will need healthcare at some point, and I want to treat others with the same exceptional care I want
for my own family.
