In the wake of the July 4th flash floods across the Hill Country, I remain deeply moved by how our community has responded. Here in Dallas, we watched in heartbreak as the devastation unfolded, knowing that many of our own families, friends and colleagues across Texas were affected. And yet what followed was just as powerful: so many stepping up, without hesitation, to care for their neighbors. Their response has been a reminder of what makes this community so special.

In moments of crisis, people here don’t just offer thoughts. They take action. They blanket our cities with ribbons—a visual reminder of support. They give generously, rally others and find meaningful ways to help.

Moments like these remind me why I believe so deeply in the power of philanthropy. Over my past 11 years at Baylor Scott & White, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside generous individuals and families who consistently show up, whether the need is deeply personal or urgently public.

I’ve seen firsthand how donor support has launched critical programs, sustained frontline caregivers, advanced cancer detection and extended help to colleagues in crisis. In every case, the common thread is a willingness to act, to give and to serve.

Stepping into this new role as Foundation president has only deepened that perspective. I’m grateful for the opportunity to build on the momentum of the past year and to lead a team that’s so committed to connecting donors with opportunities to create lasting impact.

And now, as we celebrate the milestone of $1 billion in philanthropic funds distributed through the Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation, I see it for what it truly is: not just a number, but a record of how often generosity has met the moment. Whether it’s rallying around Hill Country families after devastating floods or investing in programs that will strengthen care for generations, our community has a way of showing up—consistently and with purpose—when it matters most.

Thank you for continuing to be part of this story and for believing in what’s possible when we show up for one another.

Christina Goodman
President,
Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation

In North Texas, generosity runs deep. Over the past several decades, a handful of institutions in this region have crossed a remarkable philanthropic threshold—one that reflects not just dollars raised, but lives changed. We’re proud to count ourselves among them.

Recently, Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation reached a milestone nearly 50 years in the making: $1 billion in philanthropic funds distributed to support care, research, education and community health. It’s not really about the billion. It’s about the impact created by donors who so generously supported this mission-driven work.

Work that enabled a young woman to participate in a donor-funded high-risk screening program that detected her breast cancer at its most treatable stage. The heart transplant recipient who became a father. The physician fellow whose advanced training in cardiology is shaping the future of heart care in Texas.

This milestone is a record of trust that donors place in Baylor Scott & White to turn generosity into progress. It’s the result of thousands of gifts, large and small, from people who saw something worth investing in.

Philanthropy is one of the reasons we’ve been able to move forward boldly, strengthening care across campuses and expanding health equity for our neighbors. We’re proud to be part of that story and deeply grateful to those who have made this milestone possible.

The work continues. With your support, so does the impact. Together, we’re not just reflecting on what’s been achieved. Because if $1 billion in generosity can do all this, just imagine what the next billion might make possible.
