Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star aims to make movement safer

When Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star opened this summer at the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters in Frisco, Texas, it introduced a game-changing strategy for improving the well-being of athletes of all ages and performance levels. Everyone — from elite-level athletes to students — finds themselves on a level playing field here, with safety, research, innovation and care on their side.

This first-of-its-kind collaboration between a health system, an NFL team and a school district is evident in the 300,000-square-foot medical and sports performance complex. This multi-specialty facility focuses on sports performance and injury prevention, giving patients access to expertise, equipment and services used by elite athletes. “Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star represents our commitment to preventing illness and injuries before they happen,” Jim Hinton, CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health, noted.

“The goal of this collaboration with the Dallas Cowboys and Frisco ISD is to improve sports safety for athletes of all levels. This facility uses technology to help athletes understand, monitor and improve performance, and offers a comprehensive approach to diagnosis, treatment and recovery.” Anyone’s game can be improved at Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star, whether you are a professional athlete, a weekend warrior or someone who simply wants to get help for symptoms like joint pain. Care teams consider anyone who moves an athlete. Promoting wellness, preventing injury, treating patients with a team approach and continuously improving care through research are key tenets of the various providers and their staff at this new facility.

Inside Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star, the community finds resources including:

  • Sports Performance Center
  • Blue Star Imaging
  • Sports Surgery Center
  • Outpatient rehabilitation
  • Sports Concussion Center
  • Urgent care
  • Pharmacy
  • Cardiovascular services
  • Digestive disease
  • Specialty care
  • Family medicine
  • Orthopedics and more

The equipment and services found inside the high-tech facility are only a part of what this initiative offers the community and athletes. Baylor Scott & White’s care team has been working with Frisco ISD leadership to provide students with screenings and programs that focus on decreasing
injury, optimizing performance and enhancing recovery.

Additionally, Baylor Scott & White has matched team physicians with Frisco ISD schools and continuously educates athletic trainers about the signs and symptoms of concussions.
“This relationship with Baylor Scott & White is truly one of the most imaginative concepts in the world, not just the United States,” Jerry Jones, Sr., owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, said. “We’re interested in making sports safer, and this building is where it will happen.”
