Both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and recommended it be administered to adolescents ages 12–15.
With clinical trial data boasting a 100% effective rate in preventing COVID-19 in this age group, this is an exciting and significant step in our fight against the pandemic, allowing us to immunize our younger population.

Robert Gottlieb, MD, principal investigator of multiple COVID-19 therapeutic trials for BSW, is testing a new monoclonal antibody treatment from Eli Lilly that shows promising early results in neutralizing all known variants of concern. Not only will this research determine the new antibody’s efficacy rate in adults recently diagnosed with COVID-19, researchers are also testing out the efficacy of the treatment when it’s administered as a shot instead of an IV infusion, which would make the drug more widely accessible.
