COVID-19 Update

To learn more, visit BSWHealth.com/COVIDVaccine

Since COVID-19 vaccines became available, we have shared that this is our best defense against the pandemic. It protects you and your family, friends and neighbors, and moves us closer to getting back to doing the things we love.

Both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and recommended it be administered to adolescents ages 12–15.
With clinical trial data boasting a 100% effective rate in preventing COVID-19 in this age group, this is an exciting and significant step in our fight against the pandemic, allowing us to immunize our younger population.

BSW hubs and large vaccination sites are offering the Pfizer vaccine to Texans ages 12 and older. Parents can schedule an appointment by calling 1.844.BSW.VACC or by visiting one of our vaccine locations accepting walk-ins. All adult Texans ages 18 and older also have the option to schedule through MyBSWHealth.com and the app.

While vaccines help to prevent the disease, Baylor Scott & White has also remained committed to advancing therapies that help fight the virus.

Robert Gottlieb, MD, principal investigator of multiple COVID-19 therapeutic trials for BSW, is testing a new monoclonal antibody treatment from Eli Lilly that shows promising early results in neutralizing all known variants of concern. Not only will this research determine the new antibody’s efficacy rate in adults recently diagnosed with COVID-19, researchers are also testing out the efficacy of the treatment when it’s administered as a shot instead of an IV infusion, which would make the drug more widely accessible.
