Baylor Scott & White St. Philip’s Community Care Clinic
Donor support helps build a new community care clinic to improve access to care for underserved South Dallas communities.
A county in need
In Dallas County, 1 in 5 residents lack public or private health insurance, leaving thousands of families without access to consistent, life-saving medical care. This challenge is especially urgent in South Dallas, where the rates of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and stroke are the highest in the city. Without a regular healthcare provider, preventable conditions go unmanaged, leading to life-threatening complications and costly emergency interventions.
New clinic to integrate care for families
For nearly 15 years, Baylor Scott & White Health has been working to bridge this gap, serving over 14,000 under-resourced individuals annually through seven community care clinics.
Despite progress, healthcare access in South Dallas remains critically limited. Over 15% of children and 20% of adults under 65 in Dallas County are uninsured, and many face significant barriers such as transportation challenges, food insecurity and housing instability. Without access to preventative care, chronic disease management, and behavioral health services, these barriers contribute to worsening health outcomes and generational cycles of poor health.
Now, thanks to philanthropic support, we are improving access to care for families in South Dallas. By merging the BSW Community Care Clinic at St. Philip’s and the BSW CitySquare Community Care Clinic into a new, 7,000-square-foot clinic, we are bringing comprehensive care closer to those who need it most.
Cornerstone of health transformation in South Dallas
The new Baylor Scott & White St. Philip’s Community Care Clinic will be a cornerstone of health transformation in South Dallas. The expanded footprint and services at the new clinic will provide South Dallas residents with important access to primary care, preventative medicine and disease management for families, regardless of the ability to pay.
Projected to serve 3,250 patients annually the new clinic will be a transformative resource for families in South Dallas, by:
- Integrating care for families – With expanded exam rooms and a broader scope of services, the clinic will offer family medicine, pediatric care, behavioral health services for children, chronic disease management, pharmacy support, and specialty referrals.
- Eliminating barriers to care – The clinic will be strategically located near public transportation, schools, churches, and retail areas to improve access. It will also provide wraparound services to address food insecurity, housing instability, and digital access barriers that prevent families from receiving care.
Investing in the future – With a larger space and additional exam rooms, we will expand our Family Medicine Residency Program from four to five residents per year. Training in a community care setting prepares these future physicians to understand the unique healthcare disparities faced by under-resourced populations—ensuring a pipeline of compassionate, skilled providers dedicated to serving communities in need.
Your gift: Creating lasting change

Philanthropy is not just about building facilities—it’s about creating a lasting impact in the health and well-being of our community. Ongoing philanthropic support will be crucial to sustain the clinic’s operations, and with your gift, we can ensure that this clinic shapes a healthier future for underserved families in South Dallas and beyond.
