Emmy and Tony award-winning actress, singer and advocate in the fight against breast cancer, Kristin Chenoweth, will be the featured guest at Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Celebrating Women Luncheon.
Kristin’s voice has brought well-known characters to life on Broadway, including her original role as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked and her award-winning performance in You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Additionally, she has starred in numerous hit television series, including Pushing Daisies, Trial & Error and Glee. Her talents extend to the big screen as well, voicing animated films, including Rio 2 and The Peanuts Movie, and acting in fan favorites such as Four Christmases and Bewitched.
As a critically acclaimed singer, Kristin has performed to sold-out audiences across the world, and her new album, “For the Girls,” is set for release in September 2019. Perhaps the most important use of her celebrity voice is when Kristin uses it to support causes that are close to her heart, including the fight against breast cancer. Not only has Kristin lost a loved one to the disease, she’s also been there as others close to her battled, including her mom, a two-time breast cancer survivor.
She has shared, “I can tell you from personal experience, show business is amazing, but it ain’t everything. I believe this is what matters.”
Since the first Celebrating Women event in 1999, $34 million has been raised to help Baylor Scott & White Health fight breast cancer in North Texas. This year’s anniversary luncheon will be held on Friday, October 11, at the Hilton Anatole, and will celebrate 20 years of impact made in the lives of women and families fighting this disease in our community.
Tom Thumb and Albertsons will serve as presenting sponsors for the 15th consecutive year, and the 2019 luncheon will be chaired by Laura Downing, with Cheryl Joyner serving as underwriting chairman. Margo and Bill Goodwin will serve as this year’s honorary chairmen and the late Al G. Hill Jr. will be honored with the Circle of Care award. “
We launched Celebrating Women 20 years ago because we believed there was a better answer for women fighting breast cancer,” said Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation president, Rowland K. Robinson. “Thanks to the generous support we have received from more than 12,000 donors over the last two decades, we have seen progress made in the way we are able to diagnose, treat and care for patients. However, we know the fight isn’t over and remain committed to improving the lives of those battling this disease now and in the future.”
